How to register?

To register in Coguan AdShare you must access the “register” page and fill in the necessary details: name, surname, e-mail, and password. You must also indicate if you are an advertiser, publisher or agency. Once this has been completed you just have to click on “send”. You will then receive a confirmation e-mail.

Complete your billing information

Even if this process is quicker and simpler, Coguan needs your billing details in order to create and send the corresponding bills. For this reason, once you register it is important to go to “My account- My data” and dedicate a few minutes to fill in these details.

Completing Data

In order to create your AdUnits you can do it the normal way, through the platform, or you can send us the data by e-mail.

The first and most important thing is make sure you are registered in Coguan AdShare. After that you must download an attached excel sheet which you will have to fill in with the data required in order to register your website.

The data needed is the following: your websites URL, traffic information, AdUnit name which advertisers will have access to, type of advertisement, formats, payment model, and prices.

The more information an AdUnit has the easier it will be for advertisers to have access to it when launching campaign offers. It is equally important to specify traffic details for if not the advertiser will assume the website does not have good traffic and will decide not to invest. All these details are also used by Coguan AdShare to fix segmentation and description data.

Sending the Excel Sheet

Once the excel sheet has been completed you must send an e-mail to adshare[@]coguan.com with the subject “template websites” and attach the document. When we receive it we will upload the information. Once this is done you will have complete access to your account and can edit whenever you want to add or change any information.

When you add a webpage or a new AdUnit, the tools used will show you a list of advertising spaces next to the main characteristics: type, format, name, payment model, position, and price. Well, you will find one more column called “code” where you will find all the corresponding codes and be able to copy them.

If you have previously done all the steps when registering but you need the code again, you can access it easily in your user account in the section “My AdUnits”. This section will show you all your configured AdUnits, and on the right you will find the “code” which corresponds to each one of them. You will only have to select the box and copy the code.

How do I place the Code in my website?

Once you have copied the code you must paste it inside your webpage. It must be introduced into the body of the webpage’s code in the space reserved for the AdUnit , in other words, the place you have selected the advertisement to appear.

It is also convenient to revise the measurements of this space for they must be the same as the dimensions selected in Coguan AdShare’s platform in order to allow the advertisements to appear correctly.

Add your websites in only one step

The platform will ask for the website’s URL, categories and format.

When you finish you must then click on “confirm” so that your details are processed and you will immediately appear in our marketplace. From then onwards all advertisers will be able to see you website details.

The following step will show you a list of the AdUnits you have registered and their corresponding code which you must then place in your website so that the advertisement appears correctly. The platform will automatically register each format chosen in both payment models: one at CPC 0,09 Euros and the other CPM 0,20 Euros. You must then change these prices according to your rates.

Complete your information

The information given up to now is enough to begin with and be seen by the advertisers, however, the only data available is the one shown by Coguan in the metadata of the website. For this reason we recommend editing and completing the information so that advertisers have access to more information and increase the opportunity of receiving a good offer.

To do this you must go to “my websites” and once you are there you must press the “edit” button. The platform will show you all the information divided in three main sections: profile, users and AdUnits. Don’t forget to save when you finish editing the changes in each section.

Configure your AdUnits

The system will shown you the AdUnits already configured on your website. You can edit them by clicking on the button ‘Edit’ next to each AdUnit or add a new one by clicking on the yellow button ‘Add a new AdUnit’.

AdUnit configuration

The online tool will show a menu to define and select the features of your AdUnit. Firstly, you can choose among different banner ad formats available on the platform. After that you have to give a name to the AdUnit. We recommend using a concise and descriptive name, as it will be key information to attract advertisers. For example, you can use the field “Name” to offer info such as the location of the AdUnit on the website. You can be more descriptive with a name such as “Bottom-left skyscraper ad” compared to simply naming it “skyscraper ad”.

The next step is to select the payment model with three different options: CPC (cost per click), CPM (cost per mille) and Sponsorship. Remember to consider several payment models to attract more offers from advertisers. As a result of that, you can configure several AdUnits in the same location of your website by only changing the payment model to attract more advertisers.

Then, it’s time to describe the location of the AdUnit within your website. If you move the mouse over the button on top of the button in the column ‘position’ you will see a box with the different option and then select one position.
The next step is to define the price for the payment model you have selected. This will vary depending on whether you select CPM, CPC or monthly sponsorship models.

Advanced options

Once you have specified the AdUnit features, Coguan AdShare gives you the option to accept automatically all of the offers sent at the asking price you determine, or to receive information via email so that you can check and accept the offer manually.

If you choose the first option, the ads will appear automatically on your website, but if you don’t want that ad you will always have the option to reject the ad later on from the user panel.

In the next step you can select what you want to see on your website until an advertiser sends you an offer for your AdUnit and you accept it. In this case, you can choose from the following options: don’t show any ads, show a banner with the message “your ad here” which redirects potential advertisers to the Coguan AdShare website to buy the ads , or use an alternative ad code on the space indicated.

Finally, you have to answer the question: do you have your own ad server?

Click on ‘Save’ and you will have configured your new AdUnit. Repeat the process to add more AdUnits.

Creating a campaign

When an advertiser creates a campaign and sends offers to different publishers, the status of the campaign will be “Offer”. Once one of the publishers accepts the campaign, the status will change to “On hold” before being “Active”.

In order for a campaign to change its status to “Active”, the user must have the minimum allowed credit, 15 €, in his or her account.

If the credit conditions are met, the platform will automatically change the status of the campaign to “Active”. If these conditions are not met, however, the campaign stay “On hold” until the advertiser charges more credit to his account.

During the campaign

An active campaign can also change status to “On hold” if the AdGroup’s daily budget is exceeded. If a campaign gets the pre-established maximum number of impressions or clicks for the day, the campaign will be set “On hold” until the next day.

In addition, when a campaign reaches the defined limit of the total budget of the campaign, the status will automatically change to “On hold”. The advertiser will then have two options: finish the campaign or increase the budget so it can remain active.

Why is my campaign on “On hold”?

If you are an advertiser and one of your campaigns is “On hold” it is probably because one of the above mentioned requirements has not been met yet. You just need to fix that detail for the campaign to begin.

Coguan’s recommendations

Here are 10 tips which can help publishers increase their income:

1. Always insert Coguan AdShare’s code in your website.
2. Use all three methods of payment. You can use CPC, CPM and Sponsorship to improve the variety of your offer.
3.  Describe your website. The more detailed the information, the easier the relevant advertisers will find you to place their ads on your advertising spaces (AdUnits) published in the Marketplace. Also, it is important to specify other data such as the traffic of the site, or a correct description of the meta-tags on your web. These will be used by Coguan AdShare to fix segmentation and description data.
4. Choose the correct categories. Check in which category and/or subcategory you have included your website in the Marketplace.
5. Establish outlet prices through Coguan. With more competitive prices you will sell more AdUnits attracting a higher number of advertisers.
6. Upload all the compatible formats with Coguan AdShare.
7. Actively participate in the publisher’s qualifications program.
8. Combine Coguan AdShare with other advertising platforms you may already be using. You can specify this option for each AdUnit inside the platform.
9. Participate in Coguan AdGroup ® for advertisers. You can offer your AdUnits directly to the advertisers with this tool. Here is an article explaining how you can do this.
10. If you have more webpages, add them to our platform.

Configure your AdUnits quickly

For those publishers with many websites o little time, Coguan offers an even simpler and quick way you configure the webpages and advertising spaces in our platform.

Once you have registered, you simply need to fill out this Excel sheet with the data of each AdUnit or advertising space that you wish to create and send it by email to adshare[@]coguan.com.

Real impressions

Ad Servers count the number of received impressions, regardless of whether they come from the same IP, the frequency of one or another, or other important specifications for the campaign.

Coguan AdShare counts only the impressions in which the Ad Server shows the banner to the user. This happens only when the criteria, fixed by the advertiser when creating the campaign, are fulfilled.

Thus, the only impressions that are considered are those made by IP numbers located in the established geographic zone, considering the frequency limit, etc.

For example, if a certain campaign is limited to Spanish users and a user with an Argentinean IP accesses the webpage, that user will not see the ad. However, Google Analytics will count that impression, while Coguan AdShare’s Ad Server will not. In a similar fashion, if a user views the webpage with more frequency than the one established as the limit by the advertiser, from then on the ad will not be shown nor the impression counted by Coguan AdShare.

Creating an alternative

For these reasons, we at Coguan recommend creating alternatives to what appears in your webpage when the established ad does not appear. You can choose between showing a default banner with a ‘Your Ad here’ text or place a default code, or an alternative one from another platform.

Step by step

To change your old password for a new one, you must first identify yourself in the platform and click on ‘My Account’. Here you will find a central icon called ‘My Data’. From there you can access the main data of your user profile and edit the information.

Once you are on that page, type the new password in the indicated field, and then again to confirm the password is correctly written. Then, click on ‘Confirm and save’.

You now have a new password. The next time you access the platform and log in, you must do so with this new password.

Interaction between both parties

On occasions, the price of some AdUnits can chase away interested advertisers. Thus, they do not insert advertising on a web that can be of interest for that specific campaign. The publisher also loses the opportunity to insert advertising on his or her webpage that, although outside of the established budget, could prove to be profitable.

For these reasons, our IT team has created a tool with which the advertiser and the publisher can communicate and negotiate, privately, the price of inserting ads on the webpage.

How to negotiate

When an advertiser creates a campaign and selects different AdUnits, a button will appear on the right side of the page called ‘My selection’.

Under every selected AdUnit there is another button with ‘Make new offer’. By clicking on this link, a new window will appear from which the advertiser can specify the price he is willing to pay the publisher for his ad space.

By clicking ‘Accept’, the tool will send the new offer to the publisher who will then have to accept or reject the offer, or make a new counteroffer. Once the advertiser receives the reply, he too will have to accept, reject or counteroffer. This will continue until both parties accept the offer, in which case the campaign will begin immediately on the publisher’s AdUnit, or until one of the parties definitively rejects it.
